Character Facial Animator

The Harmonix rock star characters featured in our games are not zombies. They don’t stare and flap their lips lifelessly. They convey a wide spectrum of emotions ranging in intensity from a snarling scream to a gentle whisper. Facial animators work on the most visible and scrutinized art in the game since our rock stars are up close on camera all the time. The facial animator gets to know the changes in emotions over the course of a song, matching lip sync and facial gestures to the lyrics. It’s also a rare opportunity to hear vocal tracks from some amazing bands. This is a temporary, contract position. Like all contract jobs at Harmonix, candidates are considered for their long term potential however there is no guarantee for a permanent opportunity. Responsibilities * Learn our facial animation tool * Report limitations and propose improvements to our tool * Ability to work hard and efficiently to stay on schedule * Work with Lead Animators for critique and final approvals * Emulate the established animation styles of your project to preserve consistency across your team Qualifications * Character animation experience, a plus * 3D Character setup/rigging, a plus * Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – and superior people skills to be able to work in a creative and positive manner with the team * Ability and willingness to create games that do not follow traditional game-art styles * A love of music and an openness to new music * BFA from accredited Art or Design college
